A humpback whale delights North Sailings´ passangers

After a couple of windy days North Sailings´ boat Bjössi Sör went out on Skjálfandi Bay yesterday.

Orcas in the bay!
After two days of cancellation due to strong northern wind the tours are back on schedule. A group of Orcas was therefore a welcome delight for North Sailing´s crew and passangers this morning.

Not just whales!
There are not just whales that delight North Sailing´s passengers on Skjálfandi Bay. Birds, octopuses and even seals tend to catch the attention of guests and crew.

Humpbacks in main role - Pilot whales spotted.
The last few days have been more or less just fantastic out on the bay with huge humpback whales lifting their tails high up in the air.
Not only have humpbacks been spotted as captain Hrólfur spotted a group of Pilot whales rushing around the bay this morning. Thei are hard to observe and no pictures were taken this time.

The Humpbacks are back!

After a few days of stormy weather the Humpbacks decided to return in Skjálfandi Bay!

Dolphins doing their best...
Humpback whales have been spotted in most of our tours the last few days but today has been difficult spotting them and actually some tours nothing has been spotted at all!!

Humpbacks in the bay after a big storm
Crews and passengers were relieved when they discovered that humpbacks were still in the bay after two days of heavy winds and rain.
Today was a very busy day as all trips, both saturday and sunday had to be cancelled due to weather and almost seven hundred people sailed with North Sailing boats on a total of 13 departures.

Húsavík festival

Húsavík festival, Mærudagar and Sweedish days, came to an end yesterday after a whole week of cultural activities and events.

Humpback Whale in heavy morning exercises.

Yesterday morning the passengers of North-sailing found an extremely cheery Humpback whale exercising and warming up for the day. As if jumping and drying himself completely in the morning breeze wasn´t enough he also showed off his fluke and flippers a lot for the lucky audience.

And on it goes!

The merriment out on Skjálfandi Bay surely continues these days and the weather is definitely playing its part as well. Humback whales and cheerful White Beaked Dolphins have charmed North Sailing´s guests the last days.

Lundey, Grímsey, Flatey and Whale watching
It is safe to say that variety was descriptive of North-Sailing´s tours last Sunday morning when 5 boats sailed out on behalf of the company.

The blues are back in town
The blue whales are back after a few days out of the bay. A majestic blue whale was spotted by the crew of Schooner Haukur at the 17:00 departure.

Happy Humback whales
The past few weeks have been incredible in regards to whale sightings. Humpback whales have been seen in almost every tour this summer, more often than ever- or at least since the beginning of whale watching in Skjálfandi bay.
