The first evening trip of the season
Captain Hreiđar and guide Nils went out on the seasons first evening tour this season earlier tonight and the tour started quite well with about 6 dolphins meeting them almost within the harbour.

The Lighthouse improved

North-Sailing‘s Lighthouse, the ticket centre located in front of the Húsavík church, is undergoing some improvements inside as well as outside. In addition to being painted on the inside the Lighthouse was moved a few meters, closer to the sidewalk.

Morning trips at 09:30
We have started morning trips at 09:30 and will keep them going until the June schedule starts in 12 days.
The season has been great so far, with 5 species seen, humpback whales being the most common one, followed by the minke whales dolphins and porpoises. Blue whales have not been spotted since the end of April.

So far so good
Almost a month into the whale watching season Humpback whales have been the most common sighting in North-Sailing?s tours. The first days of the season Blue whales were sighted and one can only hope that they will return to the bay and greet the many guests that come to Húsavík and North-Sailing to enjoy the magnificent wildlife of Skjálfandi bay.

Promotion for Húsavík
Yesterday a few tourism companies from Húsavík flew to Reykjavík from Húsavík airport. The occation was a common promotion of these companies and Húsavík in general.

North-Sailing and the Maritime safety and survival training centre
Recently, North-Sailing emploees attended a two day course in crowd and crisis management as well as human behaviour with the Maritime safety and survival training centre.

Busy beginning
It can truly be said that the beginning of the whale watching season is a busy one for North-Sailing. The company´s employees are however not only busy sailing out to Skjálfandi with enthusiastic visitors to view whales.
