Schooner Hildur came to Húsavík today after a spectacular and

adventurous 10 day journey to Greenland. The trip was a huge success

and crew members were truly grateful to have had the oportunity to experience the extreme beauty of Scoresbysund and surroundings.

Schooner Hildur will return to Húsavík harbour around noon today after

an adventurous journey to Scoresbysund in Greenland that will not be forgotten by crew members.

We‘ve now got more word on the Greenland expedition of Hildur. Crew member Gísli just sent us some pictures and told us a little bit about how the expedition has been going.

We just got word from Captain Heimir on the Greenland expedition of Hildur. They have after less than 48 hours sailing reached Scoresbysund on the east coast of Greenland.

North Sailings annual celebration was thrown the night of the 17th of August. As usual the destination was a surprise so the employees were herded onto a bus and this time the bus went east

Hildur is now being readied for an expedition to Greenland. She will leave tomorrow and is scheduled to return on the 28^th or 29^th of August.

As is stated on our website, www.whalewatchinghusavik.is, special tours are available upon request.  One such special tour that we suggest is a trip to an island here in the bay, Flatey.  The name literally means flat island, and its highest point is indeed only 22 meters above sea level.

Last Saturday, July the 31st, at 16:00 hours our new schooner Hildur sailed its first whale watching tour.

North Sailing offers passengers to go out on a whale watching tour on one of our two sailing boats. The Puffin Island is visited and of course the crew puts up the sails with the passengers assistance.

There is currently a festival going on in Húsavík called Mærudagar.

At midnight yesterday Garðar sailed for the first time into Skjálfandi bay with passengers.

The annual town festival, Mærudagar, starts this Thursday the 22nd of July.  In Húsavík, the word "mæra," the first half of the local festivals name, means sweets or candy.  Thus, the festival might be called "Candy days" in English.

It was a proud moment for North Sailing when Schooner Hildur sailed into Húsavík harbour this morning.

It‘s now high season and we are managing quite well despite Náttfari being out of action. The weather today is incredible and the harbour is bustling with life.

Tomorrow morning at 9 o‘clock North Sailing‘s new schooner, Hildur, will be arriving at Húsavík harbour.
