The Humpbacks still at it

The adventure in "Whale paradise" continues and for the last days humpback whales as well as minke whales have been in the spotlight.

It seems like the most giving feeding grounds are inside the bay very close to land for the last days and the humpbacks and minkies have been feeding on incredibly shallow waters. Therefore a lot of hussle and bustle has been ongoing with lobtailing and breaching and seeming to be stranding close to the beach! Fortunately that hasn´t happend though and the whales seem to be happy with not having to dive very deep for their bite.

Following pictures were taken over the last days by Thórunn Harðardóttir.

A good view into the humpbacks open mouth. Humpbacks are baleen whales and have baleen plates inside their mouth instead of teeth.

This one is feeding in just a few meters deep water...

...not worried at all to end up as a beached whale
