Blue whales in the bay

All 4 North Sailing boats are out this morning and so far they have spotted at least one Blue Whale and some Minke Whales as well.

The Blue Whale can get up to 20-30 meters long and weigh up to 110-190 tons and although the dinosaurs were super sized, they don´t stand the comparison to the Bleu Whales. The massive weight of the Blue Whale is only possible for animals that live in the sea or water, due to their weightlessness in such environments.

The photos below were taken yesterday by our captain Einar Magnússon.

The dorsal fin of a Blue Whale is relatively small to the size of the animal

It´s hard to realise the full size of the blue whale as only around 10% of its body is visible above the surface.
