The whale school visits North Sailing
The reason for this visit was to work on a project in a new Whale school which one of former North Sailing guide, Hilda, has established.
The bay was calm but lively and we managed to spot a few Minke whales, Humback and a group of Harbour porpoises. After that we went to Lundey (Puffin Island) and saw a lot of puffins, that now are very busy preparing their nests. After saying goodbye to all the puffins we stopped and let the children try their luck in sea angling.
One of the questions that the children had to answer in this project was: "Why do the whales come to Skjálfandi bay and what are they doing here." We are pretty sure that the children will find it very easy answering these questions after the tour, because our guide Þórunn told the children everything that they wanted to know about the whales and their environment.
We at North Sailing really hope that we will see another group from the Whale school next year, and many years after that...
