Schooner Activ in Húsavík

activ in husavik
The 40 meter long Schooner Activ just after arrival in Húsavík this morning. The
20 meter long
Schooner Haukur is very small in comparison.

This morning a majestic 3 mast schooner sailed into Húsavík harbour.

Danish built in 1951, Schooner Activ is owned by the Baltic Schooner Company and registered in London.  Captain Jonas Bergsoe and his crew are on a research expedition to the eastern coast of Greenland but will stay in Húsavík, most likely until the 22nd of July.

Schooner Activ was orignally planning to visit Reykjavík on it's way to Greenland. However, in Flensburg during the RumRegatta last May, captain Jonas met with Arved Fuchs and North Sailing members, Heimir, Hörður and Einar onboard schooner Activ who all encouraged him to go via Husavik instead.

We are extremely happy to have this magnificent ship here and hope they will have a good stay and will be welcomed by "Húsvíkingar"

More about this later...
