October Whale Watching

This season has been a long one for North Sailing as we started with our scheduled tours on April 19th and today, october 14th, we‘re still taking passengers out to explore Skjálfandi Bay.

On october 10th we sailed out with several brave tourists from 4 different countries: The Netherlands, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Russia. At this time of year the uncertainty about sightings can often be considerable but this time our crew spotted a Minke whale and a very big Humpback whale. The following day, things got even more exciting when 2 Minke whales and 3 Humpbacks were spotted just 30 min from the harbour!

Today the weather is quite nice for this time of year, slow wind and clear air and we just heard from our crew, captain Hrólfur and guide Þórdís, that they´ve found at least 5 Humpbacks and 2 Minkie whale. The show continues!

Our  schedule will go on until the 20th if the weather allow. For bookings and further info, please call (+354) 464 7272.

Following pictures were taken on October 10th by Marion Vogt from Liechtenstein.
