A whale project for kids

A group of youngsters from the local school went out this morning but the trip was a part of a whale

project that they participate in. The project is run by Þórhildur Jónsdóttir and the aim is to educate the kids about whales and the life in the sea. This has become a yearly event and is becoming more popular each year.

The kids were really happy after the tour this morning and no surprise. They spotted both a minke whale and a humpback whale. A part of the project was also to catch a few fishes so they can examine and study what the fishes feed, amongst other things.

Later today another group from a school in Eyjafjörður will visit us to go fishing but in May we have frequent visits from schools in the area that are ending their semester and want to do something fun to celebrate.

The pictures were taken by our guide Halla Marín.
