Volkswagen Oldtimers

On June 18th, 2011 the North Sailing peer looked like a German car factory from the mid last century. Yes, it sounds weird but no less than 27 old Volkswagens gathered there with 54 people in their seats. All 54 then went whale watching and left their cars for other tourists and the locals to take a look at. The trip went very well, a lot of whales, although the weather was a bit rough.

So who were these mysterious people, travelling only by old Volkswagens? And were did they come from? We did not need to do much research to find this out. All of the people and their cars belong to the Dutch Oldtimer Volkswagen Club (LVWCN) and they stopped her in Húsavík in their 3 weeks long tour around Iceland. In the 3 weeks the whole fleet drove all around Iceland and we were honoured to be a part of their schedule.

Be sure to check out their website about the project www.lvwcn-ijslandtour.nl for further information about the organisation.
