Four minke whales in the western part of the bay

We knew for a fact that some minke whales where in the western part of the bay, so that was our destination. We ran into couple of Harbour porpoises and plenty of White-beaked dolphins on our way there and finally we reached the creek called Naustavík in the west.

My best boat tour yet, not to mention the whales!

I went out on two tours on Garðar today.  The former one was good, we drove to the western side of the bay, running into some white beaked dolphins on the way, and then taking a look at a few minke whales under the creeks and peaks of Víknafjöll.

A fin whale or not?

This morning it was a really nice, calm weather and we didn't travel for long when the crew on Bjössi Sör called us to say they saw a minke whale.

Unpredictable weather and whales

Today the weather was really unpredictable, changing from sunny to raining and back again in the matter of minutes. At one time it was even raining and sunny at the same time. Still we didn’t let that stop us and went out in search of the whales.

Morning trip on Garðar

Today my first trip was on Garðar with captain Einar. The weather was really nice and we sailed over the bay towards Víknafjöll were the minke whales have been staying the last few days.

Pictures from passengers

Sometimes passengers send us pictures they have taken on our tours. It‘s always nice to see these beautiful pictures so if you have any feel free to send them our way.

Foggy day

Today was incredibly foggy and I was a little nervous going on the first tour, since we didn‘t know where the whales had moved since last night.  While it took some time to find the first whales it was a very pleasant trip and we got a look of some elusive harbour porpoises and a minke whale

Blue whales in the far north

Today was remarkable, although regrettably not likely to repeat itself. Two blue whales wandered into the bay in the northwest, around Flatey.

Minkes and dolphins found in spite of the fog

The bay is crawling with fish and when there is fish the minkes are never far off.

Still seas and dolphins: A good blend - Pictures!

Today was a very good day in the bay. The air almost still and the sea like glass at times with a light cloud cover which makes for the ideal conditions for spotting whales.

A curious Minke and playful Dolphins in the midnight sun

The weather was just wonderful when we went on our evening trip at 8:15 PM.  Calm sea, a gentle breeze and the sun already a dark yellow.
