A breaching humpback whale!

Yes, today at 13:30 some 9 lucky passengers left the harbour with us and they sure did not know what they had coming! We found a nice humpback whale after about 40 mins which we followed for a while, or until we spotted another blow a bit further north. The wind had picked up quite a lot but we decided to go and take a look at that whale anyway. And we are glad we did, because when we were reaching the area where we had seen the blow, and wondering where it would surface next, it breached out of the water in front of the boat, some 30 metres away! And it didn't stop there, oh no, it jumped out 12 times in a row!!

We always got closer and closer so in the end it was about 5 metres away from the boat. It is truly amazing to witness this, and all the passengers were seeing a whale for the first time :)

A little girl from Australia who is travelling with her family around Iceland said she's really interested in whales, and has seen many documentaries on them, but has never seen one in real life and she was really happy with tour!
