Blue Whales in Wintry Conditions

Today was cold and stormy at Skjálfandi Bay, but out we went with our boats Náttfari and Bjössi Sör. All of our passengers were informed about the conditions, about the bumpy sea and pouring rain. After about half an hour sailing we spotted the first blow - and there were just about to become several more of them! We managed to watch two Blue Whales up close, they were feeding at the surface and not at all annoyed by the boats. Having guided for over 6 years, they still leave me speechless, theese biggest creatures on earth! On our way to the harbour we ran into a small family of White Beaked Dolphins with newborn kalfs - and - another Blue Whale just right outside the harbour! What a delightful surprise that was.

Huld, guide.
