All communication regarding reservation of services offered by North Sailing Húsavík Whale Watching, including changes and cancellations shall be in writing and may be sent using e-mail or postal service, if time permits.
All our whale watching day tours can be booked online up to 30 minutes prior to tour departure. Expeditions and overnight tours can be booked online up to 24 hours prior to departure. When you book a tour online, you will receive a confirmation and booking number by email, stating tour departure time and date as well as duration.
Cancellation policy for whale watching day tours
Reservations can be cancelled 24 hrs prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 24 hrs prior to departure will be charged full price.
Cancellation policy for expeditions and overnight tours
A deposit of 25% of total amount will be charged upon booking any expedition. The contracting party may cancel the travel contract (exclusively in writing) at any time before the beginning of the trip. In the case of cancellation by the contracting party of a FIT-reservation (1 up to and including 9 travel participants or berths on a ship voyage), North Sailing is entitled to charge the following costs to the contracting party – Up to and including 60 days prior to departure: 10% of the total price – from 59 days up to and including 30 days prior to departure: 30% of the total price – from 29 days up to and including 15 days prior to departure: 45 % of the total price – from 14 days up to and including 6 days prior to departure: 75 % of the total price – from 5 days up to and including the day of departure : 100% of the total price.
Security and confidentiality
We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs. All credit card transaction processes have been verified by Borgun ehf. (http://www.borgun.is) and are safeguarded at all times. SSL encrypts your credit card number, name, address, and telephone number before they travel over the Internet. This makes doing business over the Internet as secure as purchasing by telephone.

Validity of prices
All rates quoted or shown in our tariffs are based on current purchasing prices in Iceland. North Sailing reserves the right to change prices already quoted or published in our price lists without notice in the event of currency fluctuation, government taxes, or due to any other cost increases that are beyond our control. Any eventual changes in rates will not be made with less then 4 weeks’ notice prior to arrival.
Discounts for children are subject to the nature of the services to be provided and the terms of North Sailing’s tours as well as their service partners.
Upon receipt of full payment from the client, North Sailing will issue service vouchers or tickets as relevant. The vouchers/tickets will either be posted to the client or handed to the client upon his arrival in Iceland. It is the client’s responsibility to safeguard the vouchers/tickets and present these to the relevant service partners as payment for each service rendered.
North Sailing reserves the right to levy a charge for any change to a confirmed reservation, requested by the client. The charge is subject to North Sailing’s current tariff and the policy of North Sailing’s service partners.
All our whale watching tours start from the harbour in Húsavík except for our whale watching tours in Hjalteyri. The departure time is indicated on your voucher or ticket. It is the passengers responsibility to arrive at our tour office in time to check in and to board the boat.
Cancellations of tours must go through our office and should be sent at least 24 hours prior tour departure to firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: +354 464 7272. Confirmations of cancellations will be sent back within 24 hours during weekdays.
North Sailing acts in good faith and disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or schedule changes caused by weather or road conditions, force majeure such as natural catastrophes, strikes or any irregularities beyond the control of North Sailing. North Sailing cannot be held responsible for acts, defaults of, or delays caused by, any agent, guide, restaurant, hotel, coach operator, airline, or any persons or companies, however caused. In the case of any changes to flights (domestic and international), the passenger is responsible for any additional costs incurred as a result of such changes, (i.e. additional hotel nights, meals, transfers, etc.). All medical costs arising during tours must be paid by the client. The company cannot be made responsible for losses that a passenger may face due to delay, regardless whether the loss is direct or indirect.
Passengers with special needs
If you have any special needs or requests you should notify North Sailing head office as soon as possible. We always try to fulfill our customers wishes at all times.
Wheelchairs that can be folded are permitted on board our whale watching boats free of charge. If possible, please advise North Sailing office prior to tour departure.
