Join North Sailing for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure
Join North Sailing for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in one of the most remote and breathtaking corners of the world. On 12 August 2026, the skies above East Greenland will darken as the moon passes in front of the sun, creating a spectacular total solar eclipse. You’ll be there to witness it in perfect conditions – far from light pollution, surrounded by the icy wilderness of Scoresby Sound, aboard our authentic sailboats Opal and Hildur.

A Journey like no other
Our Solar Eclipse Expedition begins in Reykjavík, Iceland, where we take a scenic flight to Constable Point in East Greenland. From there, we set sail, embarking on a week-long exploration of Scoresby Sound – the world’s most extensive fjord system. Along the way, you’ll experience:
Towering icebergs drifting silently in the fjords
Majestic Arctic wildlife – including musk oxen, seals, and possibly polar bears!
The pristine stillness and raw beauty of one of the last great wildernesses

The Highlight – The 12 August 2026 Solar Eclipse
In the middle of our voyage, we’ll position the vessels in a prime viewing spots within Scoresby Sound for the total solar eclipse. During this rare event, we expect some unique sights and experiences:
The sky turning deep twilight in the middle of the day
The corona of the sun blazing in ghostly light
A surreal, almost otherworldly stillness in nature
Reflection and awe in a small group setting
This is not just eclipse-watching. It’s witnessing one of the most dramatic astronomical events on Earth in the most spectacular natural setting imaginable.
