Sightings Húsavík 2021

From March to November 2021, whales were spotted in 642 out of 707 tours = 90,81%.
In total, eleven different species were spotted: Humpback whales, Blue whales, Sperm whales, Long-finned Pilot whales, Harbour porpoises, White-beaked dolphins, Minke whales, Northern Bottlenose whales, Sei whales, Fin whales and Killer whales.

Sightings Hjalteyri 2021

From June to November 2021, whales were spotted in 133 out of 141 tours = 94,33%
In total, six different species were spotted: Humpback whales, Harbour porpoises, White-beaked dolphins, Minke whales, Long-finned Pilot whales and Killer whales.

Please note: When it comes to calculating the success rate of trips, different companies have different methods, some more credible than others. As a rule of thumb, North Sailing’s crews count trip as “unsuccessful” if nothing bigger than porpoises is seen during the tour. Also if for some reasons conditions to spot the whales are that hard that not every passenger sees the whales we do not count those trips as successful.
