Beautiful Blues!

This morning our North Sailing boat, schooner Haukur reported some exciting news to the rest of the fleet: "Some BIG whales out on the horizon north west of Puffin island!" Our two other boats, Knörrinn and Bjössi Sör, who had just left the harbour immediately set the course towards north and in about 20 minutes we came across two beautiful Blue whales! What a sight! They were heading in to the bay and always keeping close to each other, surfacing with 5-6 minutes intervals.
There were actually 3 Blue whales in the bay today since schooner Haukur saw the 3rd one a little bit further north. In addition, they saw several White Beaked Dolphins and not far from the harbour all the North Sailing boats spotted several minke whales. So all in all, a very successful tour in very nice sea- and weather conditions!
On board Knörrinn this morning we had passengers from several countries and 2 of them were so kind to lend us some photos they took on the tour. We thank Colin Williams from the UK who works for ORCA – marine conservation charity for his photos as well as Pavel Vaša and his family from the Czech Republic.
Following are a few more pictures which they took on the tour.
