The Blue whales are back!!!!!!

When we went out for our second whale watching trip on Bjössi Sör today, nobody guessed what was awaiting us.

First we crossed the bay and sailed into the western part, where we saw several whales and dolphins the tour before. Although the waves were quite high we spotted two minke whales and got some nice looks at them. 

Then we decided to head a bit further north and try to find something else. And suddenly we saw a very big blow on the horizon! We had to sail further out in direction of Flatey, but our patience was rewarded: Even though we first could hardly believe it, we saw at least two blue whales!

What an exciting encounter! One of them surfaced several times close to our boat and we had the chance to get some unforgettable looks at them, before we had to head back to Húsavík. 

Hopefully they’ll stay for longer now. It’s hard to describe the emotions the sight of the biggest animal on earth arouses in you.
