A difficult start… but a great ending of that day
The Friday started with stormy conditions and reminded us, that summer isn’t here yet: It was snowing! Due to the wind we had to cancel the trips in the morning. But in the afternoon the wind calmed down and we decided to give it a try. The swell was still pretty high, but conditions got better every hour and it was worth sailing out: We ecnountered several humpback whales! We had the chance to get pretty close to them and the evening got even better. Surprisingly the sun appeared, the wind calmed dwon and in excellent visibility we spotted many blows from far away already. The humpback whales literally popped up everywhere and even on our way back to the harbor we came across four or five individuals. Changing weather conditions are sometimes difficult to deal with, however they also might contribute to good feeding conditions for the whales!
