Humpbacks everywhere!
We left the harbour onboard “Náttfari” this morning and headed out in beautiful autumn weather conditions into Skjálfandi Bay.
After only 15-20 minutes of sailing, we already spotted the first blow from a humpback whale and as we took some closer looks at this individual, we already saw several more blows not too far away.
After a little while it became clear that there were plenty of humpback whales in the middle of the bay, not far from Húsavík harbour.
We counted at least 7 different individuals and most of them were taking very short and shallow dives and were definitely feeding at the surface, making it very nice to observe them since we never had to wait more than 1-2 minutes for them to come up again.
The weather forecast looks very nice for the next days and we are of course crossing our fingers and fins that these amazing whale watching conditions will continue.
