Sightings Húsavík 2025
From March to November 2025, whales were spotted on 1061 out of 1108 tours = 95,76%.
In total, eleven different species were spotted: Humpback whales, Minke whales, White-beaked dolphins, Northern Bottlenose whales, Harbour porpoises, Long-finned Pilot whales, Blue whales, Sei whales, Bottlenose dolphins, Fin whales and Killer whales.
Bottlenose dolphins were seen for the first time ever on whale watching tours in Skjálfandi Bay!

From February to December 2025, whales were spotted on 373 out of 396 tours = 94,19%
In total, seven different species were spotted: Humpback whales, Minke whales, White-beaked dolphins, Northern Bottlenose whales, Harbour porpoises, Blue whales and Killer whales.

Please note: When it comes to calculating the success rate of trips, different companies have different methods, some more credible than others. As a rule of thumb, North Sailing’s crews count trip as “unsuccessful” if nothing bigger than porpoises is seen during the tour. Also if for some reasons conditions to spot the whales are that hard that not every passenger sees the whales we do not count those trips as successful.
