A Humpback very close to Húsavík
The weather gods were not really on our side and as it was quite windy today, we decided to search along the eastern side of the bay, giving us a bit more shelter from the land.
This decision paid off pretty soon! After sailing for about 30 minutes, we spotted the blow from a humpback whale in the distance and as we got closer we realized that it was the same humpback whale, that we had seen yesterday afternoon.
On some occasions, the whale surfaced just a few hundred metres from the Húsavík lighthouse and we got some really nice close-up views.
In the afternoon, we made a lot of effort to find this humpback whale again, but even though we have been searching for more than two hours, we didn’t find it again. Unfortunately, we also didn’t find any other whales or dolphins on this trip, so we offered our passengers to try their luck again with us for free, whenever they are back in Húsavík.
