Up to 20 Humpback Whales Spotted in Skjálfandi Bay
The season is in full swing, and Skjálfandi Bay is bursting with life! Since Easter, we’ve been greeted daily by the iconic fluke dives of many humpback whales, often feeding close to the boat, tail-slapping, and even breaching! All of it set against a breathtaking backdrop of snow-capped mountains on one side of Skjálfandi Bay and the charming town of Húsavík on the other.

Great conditions for whale watching ahead
On top of the incredible whale activity (with up to 20 humpbacks spotted on the best days), the weather has been unusually kind for this time of year, with calm seas, long bright days, and hardly any wind.

These ideal conditions have allowed for more relaxed, longer sightings. With the forecast showing unbelievably beautiful weather ahead, now is truly a fantastic time to get out on the water, and we can officially say that summer has arrived in Húsavík, Iceland!
The Húsavík blue whales
Among the many highlights so far have been several encounters with blue whales, the largest animals ever to roam the planet. Seeing one of these gentle giants surface near the boat is a moment of quiet awe — it’s not only rare, it’s unforgettable. For many of our guests and crew, these sightings have been the absolute highlight of the season so far.

Excellent reviews from our whale watching tours
The response from our guests has been nothing short of heartwarming, and just today, we received some great ones too! Here are a few of the things people have said after sailing with us:
“Great crew and an amazing experience — we even saw a blue whale!!”

“Definitely the best experience of the whole trip to Iceland. We could see hundreds of puffins and quite a few whales. We were lucky enough to see one jump in front of us! The crew was very respectful, keeping quiet during the sightings and giving good explanations during the journeys. We would repeat 10 times without thinking!”
