Húsavík – A Whale Paradise in 2025
The 2025 whale watching season in Húsavík is in full swing, and what a season it’s been so far! With calm seas, sunny skies, and an incredible abundance of wildlife, it’s shaping up to be one of the most memorable in recent years.

The Majestic Humpback whales
For many months now, we’ve enjoyed daily sightings of humpback whales – true icons of Skjálfandi Bay. Their impressive dives, playful surface behaviour, and remarkable feeding techniques, including lunge feeding and even bubble-net feeding, have been breathtaking to witness.

All of this is made possible thanks to the rich feeding conditions in Skjálfandi Bay, where plankton thrives, drawing in fish, seabirds, and of course, the whales.

While visiting Puffin Island remains a highlight, with thousands of puffins nesting there, birdlife has been thriving across the entire bay. Even on our classic whale watching tours, guests have had excellent opportunities to see puffins and other seabirds up close, sometimes just meters away from our vessels.
Many Amazing Visitors
We’ve had incredible encounters with blue whales, large pods of white-beaked dolphins, and minke whales close to Húsavík. But there were also some more unexpected visitors. One of the most exciting moments so far? A rare sighting of northern bottlenose whales, which roamed around the bay for several days.

The Sweetest Ending
We keep our good old traditions unchanged and every tour ends on a sweet note: with hot chocolate and freshly baked cinnamon buns, served on board by our friendly crew.

With the season only halfway through, there’s still so much to look forward to. Whether you’re joining us soon or thinking about planning a trip, there’s truly no better time to experience the wild beauty of Skjálfandi Bay.
