Mærudagar starting!

Dolphins in great numbers

Today we had several minke whales with us both by the bottom of the bay and in the east, a short way from harbour. They were quite busy feeding it seemed, moving sporadically and hard to predict. Even though that makes our job a bit more difficult it is none the less very pleasing to…

Minkes, dolphins and porpoises

Today we started off in a great fashion, with minke whales practically inside the harbour. We had to work for it but eventually got a good look at them so that everyone caught a good look. Then, for the first time in many weeks, we spotted a group of harbour porpoises that actually showed themselves…

Minkes in the west

Today the weather was okay, but the whales were quite difficult to spot. However, after a long trip over the bay to the east, under the great Creek Mountains, we were able to spot at least two minke whales rather close together, feeding near Skerið, a reef that is often visited by the whales. On…

Grey sky, minke whales and dolphins
